The NXU-2 uses VoIP technology to send and receive digital voice audio. VoIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol, which is a means of digitizing voice signals and sending them over a digital network. The digital network can be a LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), or the internet itself. The NXU-2 embodies this VoIP technology in a way that enables communications radios

　　One of the JPS family of products, the NXU-2 connects communications equipment to a digital network using VoIP technology. It is intended for use with radio communications consoles, communications radios, and JPS products such as the ACU-1000 Interconnect Unit and the SNV-12 Voter.
作为 JPS NUX系列产品中的一员，NUX-2采用VoIP技术将通讯设备连接到一个数字网络中。它可同无线电通讯控制台，通讯电台以及JPS的ACU-1000通信互通单元还有SNV-12比选器配合使用。

　　The NXU-2 is a general-purpose stand-alone device that interfaces full duplex audio, one RS-232 port, and four status bits onto an Ethernet network.. A pair of NXU-2s can form a simple system that creates a transparent communications link between the two. The unit at the far end is the sever, the one at the near end is the client. The audio, RS-232, and status bits appear to be simply extended between the server and the client.
NXU-2是一台通用型单机装备，配备接口包括全双工话音、一个RS-232接口和四个同以太网连接的数字接口。一对NXU-2装置可架构一个简单的系统，它在两点间组成了一个明确的通讯链路。在远端的装备可作为服务器，在近端的则作为客户机。话音、RS-232串口和状态比特可在服务器和客户机之间进行扩展。

一、APPLICATIONS (应用)：

1、SIMPLE NXU-2 RADIO YSTEM (单一NXU-2无线通信系统)

图2：举例说明单个通讯收发信机通过一个网络与远端话音控制台连接的一个基本的NXU-2的应用。发射/接收的话音和PTT/COR信号被数字化地通过网络传输，并且清晰地出现在另一端。在话音控制台的操作者使用远端的无线电台就好像电台就在身边一样。

2、REMOTE ACU-1000 CONTROL (遥控ACU-1000控制):

　　图3：说明一台用于传输话音的NXU-2通过一台控制电脑和一台远端的ACU-1000进行数字通信的一个的应用。利用本地电脑通过一对无线LAN发送/接收单元进行远端ACU/NXU通讯。该电脑需配备有两套软件：NXU控制软件在同NXU-2通讯时运行并管理着连接状态以及提供ACU完全控制的ACU控制软件。位于指挥部电脑旁的操作者能够控制ACU并监控它的工作状态，同时还可以利用它发送和接收话音。

3、MULTIPLE RADIO CONTROL (多台ACU-1000控制):

图4：这是一个多台电脑控制多台ACU-1000的系统。若每台设备相距几百英尺，就可以如图所示地利用一个带有以太网集线器和CAT 5电缆的LAN将它们连接　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　起来。如果一些设备必须被放置在其他地点，一个WAN将可以替代以太网络集线器。电脑在Windows界面下运行NXU和ACU控制软件包。

4、MULTIPLE RADIO CONTROL (多台电台控制):

三、SYSTEM OVERVIEW (系统总揽)：

　　Any NXU-2 can be set up as a sever or a client depending on system needs. The RS-232 connection allows for different baud rates between the sever and client.
任何一台NXU-2能够根据系统需要建成为一个服务器或是客户机。RS-232接口允许在服务器和客户机之间选用不同波特率。

　　The NXU-2 monitors its network connection and adiusts its parameters automatically to provide optimum performance under varying network conditions. Front Panel indicators display the unit's status. Initial configuration is done throught the NXU-2's serial port, but once set up, a standard web browser can be used over the unit's settings and to perform diagnostics.
NXU-2监控网络连接并自动调节各项参数，在不同网络条件下，优化网络性能。前面板显示器显示装备工作状态。初始配置通过NXU-2的串口加以设定，但一旦设定，一个标准的网络浏览器将能够通过装置单元的设置被用来进行性能诊断。

　　The NXU-2 provides a number of different voice compression settings to accommodate a wide range of applications from voice-only to voice plus tone signalling.
NXU-2提供许多不同话音压缩设定，用以满足从单一话音到话音加单音测试信号的宽范围的不同应用。

　　Designed for years of continuous operation in mission-critical applications and remote locations, the NXU-2 has no moving parts and requires no periodic shutdown or maintenance. Start up upon power on is typically 5 seconds.
多年以来不断地为在执行关键任务和远端地点的通信应用而设计，NXU-2没有任何可移动的部件并无需间断性关机或维修。按下电源开关即可在5秒之内开机。
